Biography
Mahmoud EL-KAFAFY received the bachelor’s degree in mechanical power engineering from Helwan University, Egypt in 2001. From the same university, he received the master degree in the mechanical design engineering in 2006. He joined the department of Mechanical Engineering of Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in 2009 as a PhD researcher. His PhD thesis was titled with “Design and validation of improved modal parameter estimators”. He obtained his Ph. D. degree from Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in 2013 and was soon after granted a Vlaio (IWT) position (Innovation mandate) to continue his research in a postdoc level in close collaboration with Siemens Industry Software (SISW). Currently, Mahmoud is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Mechanical Engineering (MECH) – VUB and, he is also a visiting researcher at Siemens Industry Software (SISW) – RTD Test division. His main research interests are in the field of modal testing, signal processing, and frequency-domain identification of multivariable systems.
