Biography

Julien Ertveldt was born in Brussels, Belgium, in 1989. He received the degree of Industrial Engineer in Electromechanics from the Erasmus University College, Brussels, Belgium in 2011, the MSc. Aerospace Vehicle Design degree from the Cranfield University, UK, in 2013. In 2017 he obtained the degree of Ph.D. in Engineering from the Vrije Universiteit Brussels (VUB), with its work “Application of frequency-domain system identification to wind tunnel experiments on the Active Aeroelastic Test Bench“. From 2018 he is working as a research engineer at the VUB Department of Mechanical Engineering on the development of integrated hybrid CNC machining systems combining Laser Metal Deposition, laser ablation and milling. The focus of the newly developed systems is on monitoring and closed-loop control of the manufacturing processes.
